SDDocsforMidwives is a website being developed by Heather Margaret, MD, to facilitate informing physicians and legislators about a physician’s perspective on licensing of midwives to serve homebirth families in South Dakota. While content is still being developed, the framework is there for obtaining information about important research and publications related to homebirth and midwifery, and how midwifery licensing is working in other states. There are additional sections of commentary on the conflict existing for physicians when midwives are not regulated by the State, and replies to some of the concerns raised by others regarding midwives. In the "about" section there is a printer-friendly letter to facilitate inviting physicians and legislators around the state to visit the site. SDSCO supporters are encouraged to print off copies of the letter and invite others to visit: SDDocsforMidwives.org.
