Members Brainstorm During Annual Meeting
The SDSCO, Inc annual meeting included a discussion on next year’s birth conference. Most members favored keeping the birth conference in the east central part of the state since this is where many of our active supporters live. Mitchell & Brookings are being considered first. If a conference coordinator can not be found in these areas, Yankton would be a third choice. It would be wonderful if a volunteer or volunteers would come forward to help with next year’s conference. It really helps if the planning begins by January.
Members also discussed novelty gifts that could be left with legislators during the session to remind them of the importance of midwives to South Dakota families. Some ideas were: magnets, candy with our message attached, pencils, note pads and rulers. The board is currently researching the different options and with the help of our lobbyist and members, hopes to pass out a reminder gift to each legislator once a week until our bill is passed.
